Information Contact: ML Krakauer, Fundraising Chair, ML@BLCSave.org
Fundraising can occur both through direct giving and ticket sales. Note that there are rules around ticket sales and value exchanged with the buyer that vary with how the event is funded. If you are interested in using ticket sales, please contact our Fundraising Chair above to obtain more information before proceeding.
There are five giving methods:
Credit Card via the Save the Children Boston website
Credit Card via Text-to-Pledge
Donor Advised Fund
Mailed Checks
Wire Transfer
Details for each method are outlined below. Please notify the Fundraising Chair of the method(s) you would like to use at least six weeks in advance of your event, to ensure proper administration of funds you collect.
Note: Illustrative equivalencies will help your guests understand the kind of impact their donations can have. They can be found under each cause.
Giving method details:
Give via credit card on the Save the Children Boston website:
All 13 Priority Program Areas can be made “live” on our website for you to use
At least 6 weeks ahead of your event, let the Fundraising Chair (above), and the Communications Chair (Sejal Srinivasan, Sejal@BLCSave.org), know what program you will be raising funds for and the date of your event, so that:
the appropriate program can be enabled on the BLC's website (which is connected to the Save the Children website)
the appropriate administration of the funds you collect is enabled
There is an option to add a limited number of additional/custom programs (but only) if a significant fundraising goal is established; email the Fundraising Chair to inquire about adding designations
Text-to-Pledge:
Guests text their donations to +1 (203) 309-0782, with a short message like "Donation"
They receive a text with a website to visit to make their donation
At that website, they enter their name, address and phone number, the amount of their pledge, and their credit card information
They hit "Pay & Register"
They will receive a text messaging confirming their pledge
Coordinate with the Fundraising Chair (above) at least six weeks in advance of your event
Donor Advised Fund (“DAF”):
Some guests will want to use their DAFs to make their donation, they should know how to do this but may need Save the Children’s EIN # 06-0726487
Instructions for DAFs are available at: https://www.savethechildren.org/us/more-ways-to-help/ways-to-give/donor-advised-funds
They request a grant distribution to Save the Children through their DAF administrator
Where possible, if they can indicate that the donation is associated with a BLC event, it helps us track our fundraising performance
