Venezuela is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Widespread violence and economic turmoil has forced nearly 4.8 million people to flee. Displacement from Venezuela is second only to Syria.

Save the Children is bringing its decades of humanitarian expertise to help vulnerable children of Venezuela. The declared COVID-19 pandemic threatens children and their rights and exposes them to possible massive disruption of their health care, education, access to basic goods and services. It also affects protection and social interaction with family members, teachers, peers, and communities. Existing inequalities, for instance related to gender, ability, ethnicity and income, will further exacerbate the negative impact on.

Due to the contingency caused by COVID19, our team has delivered food kits to help families improve their quality of life, as many have lost their jobs.

Back in Venezuela, Yaleima worked as a secretary and her incomes were enough to support her two children. However, when the crisis broke out, it was impossible for her to buy food. They left Venezuela and they are now heading to Lima, the capital of Peru. To reach the capital, Yaleima and her children must travel the entire northern beach area of the country. When summer season arrived, she was kicked out from the hotel room she rented to sleep because the owner would rent it to tourists for a higher price. Without the humanitarian assistance Save the Children and USAID provide, she and her children would be sleeping in the beach.

We have delivered educational kits for emergency times by COVID19, so that children and adolescents can have access to educational and didactic material

Our protection team, made a day of delivery of food for mothers who are heads of families in the neighborhoods where our friendly spaces are located.
