Save the Children has responded to humanitarian crises in India since the famine of 1943, and in the last 12 years has mobilized support after over 40 emergencies. Our large presence in some of India’s most vulnerable communities, dozens of highly trained emergency staff, local partners and strong relationships with government agencies, other NGOs, academic institutions and the media puts us in a unique position to understand needs and safeguard children and their families during this unprecedented crisis.
Given the geographic scale and severity of the potential humanitarian crisis in India, we quickly began adapting ongoing programs in 12 states to include activities raising awareness of the virus. Our integrated COVID-19 response strategy seeks to help prevent transmission, strengthen health systems and mitigate the crisis’ impact on the most marginalized populations. Our teams assess the impact of the pandemic on our programs and communities every day so that we can pivot quickly if needed to address changing scenarios.
Save the Children has a number of social media "share cards" already created for COVID-19. View choices and download from this link.
