Troubling evidence is emerging that the COVID-19 pandemic is creating an exponential increase in violence against children and women. As economic shocks, lockdowns and social distancing fuel stress and anxiety, children living in abusive households, with a disability, on the street or in camps are particularly susceptible to abuse, neglect and exploitation.
In extreme cases, families will resort to dangerous coping strategies including marrying off their young daughters or exploitive child labor.
Save the Children is working around the clock to prevent and address violence by offering children and women the protection they deserve.
Save the Children has a number of social media "share cards" already created for COVID-19. View choices and download from this link.
